Probably because 3 things - I always lived in NY, NHLPA93/NHL 94, and... 3 year old me associated Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers with the New York Rangers.

Great memories. Whenever the grandkids would stay at our house for the weekend, I can remember my wife and I being woken up at some ungodly hour to watch cartoons with them. Power Rangers, Beast Wars, and Spiderman I think were their favorites.

I was born in Detroit, so Wings/Tigers/Lions, and Pistons when I'm not generally pissed at the NBA (fuck you David Stern).

Only one reason why I have a Rangers jersey of all my Leafs and Team Canada Jerseys.
-Forever sad Leafs fan

The Wings success more than makes up for the lack of success for the Pistons and Lions.

For me, it's both because of my dad and my home state. Unfortunately, those teams are the Mets and the Bills. Dammit.

DAT HANK
Sick of us spoiled NY fans saying Hank sucks, etc. He's THE reason they're even in the 2nd round against a better team.

I know that feel. My dad is a huge Bills fan and there are baby pictures of me in Bills attire. I was little when they lost 4 straight to the NFC East (lol Eagles)

I've followed the Patriots since before Tom Brady was cool...
I remember watching him in preseason and thinking, "Brady sucks, we're going to be in trouble if Bledsoe gets hurt!"

Cardinals and Blues because GO ST. LOUIS.
I'd root for the Rams but they just aren't good enough to put forth the effort.

The Pistons were actually pretty successful in the early-mid 2000's, I just think pro basketball and pro wrestling belong in the same category.

I was raised up in a Vikings house, and then I became a Chargers fan because they were the closest to a hometown team. I used to be an Anaheim Angels fan but now I don't follow baseball, if I go to a game I'm usually too drunk to follow the game. When I was a kid and liked hockey, I was a Ducks fan, the Anaheim teams stem from me growing up just a short 25 minute drive away from both Anaheim Stadium and The Pond (I refuse to call it the Honda Center. . . just like I refuse to call the Anaheim Angels the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. . . Fucking stupid marketers!). But really the only team I watch and follow somewhat closely is the Chargers, it is entertaining now that I moved up into Raider/9er territory. . .

I was born in late '94. Younger than you think.
FUCKING FIESTA TIME SOON. I have to wait 6 days, 22 hours, and 9 minutes until I actually see it though. Also 4 finals.

Blackhawks. I lived in Chicago back in the Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Tony Esposito days. Even made it to a game in the old Stadium. I've been a Blackhawks and Cubs fan all my life.

Okay, I'll need to explain. Since all three teams are from different cities.
1. Detroit Red Wings: I grew up in a city equidistant from both Toronto and Detroit. When I grew up, I grew up watching both teams, and although I had influence from my grandfather pushing me towards the Leafs, I always preferred watching the Red Wings. They were always much quicker, much more organized, much more exciting. They had a group of memorable players, both around the time I was getting into hockey (around 1995) and afterwards.
2. San Francisco 49ers: I'll be honest, I didn't get into football until about 2002 or so (which, you'll note, was the last year they made the playoffs). Again, when I first started watching football, I gravitated towards their West Coast style offense. Jeff Garcia and Terrell Owens were both really awesome.
3. Toronto Blue Jays: Okay, kind of a homer pick.

Two of my classmates and I just had to give a group presentation in front of ex-mayor of Toronto David Miller. :o

Did anyone ask about our current crackhead mayor?
![]() 05/10/2014 at 00:07 |

Nope. David Miller seems really nice in person.

That's not surprising. Although Miller was before the time I moved to Toronto.

SF Giants: Because I live 2 blocks from the stadium and walk my dog around it almost every day.
